A TANZANIAN joint venture involving Perth-based juniors Key Petroleum and Bounty Oil & Gas has completed the Kiliwani North-1 well for a full well test and has released the Caroil-6 land rig.

Final well casing has been run and cemented in place and a production well head connected to the production string.
Strong pressures were recorded during clean-up and pressure build-up was monitored after the well was shut-in.
"The ability of the well to quickly provide strong pressures while flowing and at shut-in provides the joint venture with further confidence as to the potential for the well and its ability to flow commercially," Key managing director Ken Russell said.
"The joint venture is now working with specialist well-testing companies to bring together a full well-test surface package that will allow us to flow the well for long durations and fully investigate the well's ability."
He added that well testing was expected to start in about four weeks, subject to equipment availability and its mobilisation point.
Kiliwani North-1, the second well in the JV's two-well drilling program, had discovered a 60m gross gas column in the Neocomian sandstones, the same producing reservoir as in the nearby Songo Songo gas field.
The earlier Kiliwani-1 well, which was also drilled by the Caroil-6 rig, was unsuccessful.
Operator of the two-well program is Ndovu Resources, with a 39% stake, while Key holds 20% and Bounty has 6%.
