Ann: US DoD Report Travelan Protects Against Shigella in Primates, page-59

I have two questions which I'm going to pose to you all. I realise the immediate answer is "DYOR you lazy sod", and I do in fact plan to do this, but some of the better researched may have immediate answers that short circuit that.

1) Going back to the original announcement, can anyone think of a negative way to spin this? For me the obvious is "100% would have been better" but I think 7 out of 8 is pretty damn good, and perversely I think the sixth becoming ill after bein taken off the drug doesn't hurt the company- to me it implies "keep taking the stuff every day". In particular can we imagine a situation wher the DoD would look at this and say..... "naaaah".

2) I had a look through earlier anns and it's not clear to me what the next step is. The current ann says "pathways to further testing" but I don't have any idea what has to be done (or how long it would take) for the DoD to make a decision to start buying. As we all know, it's not like the drug has to go through any safety profiling. Does anyone have any idea or is this a case where it might be worth e-mailing the company?
