Telstra can be difficult to deal with; main reason is that you aren't dealing with "Telstra" you are dealing with a Telstra executive. Just finding the right person to deal with is a huge challenge and getting them to focus on your offer is a major challenge. Their first instinct is to make it go away because they already have a full dance card.
2nd issue is Telstra aren't interested in selling handsets, they are only interested in selling mobile contracts. Demonstrating to Telstra the potential to sign-up a significant number of plans is tricky.
The final challenge is the sales person in the shop. They are paid commission on plans not handsets. The handset is just a means to an end.
Because of the restricted nature of the calls and data usage on the MGM Wrist Phone, I imagine the plans chosen will be low in call and data volume compared to (say) an iPhone.
I speak from first hand experience.
Will be interested to see if the deal gets up.
