It seemed most people were shocked when I posted earlier. The law in Victoria stated that even if you were the rightful owner of the goods and could prove they were unlawfully sold to the pawn broker, you could not get them back unless the broker had not followed the correct procedures when buying them. That is you had to negotiate with the broker and at the least pay him the equivalent of what he paid the thief. Not many people knew that in 1990 but if you did then you are better informed than me.
