investmentidiot.....i'm on your side...i did say.... when banks stop using unrealistic valuations & offering ppl bucketloads of dough.... But at the end of the day people have to be realistic & take responsibility for their financial decisions. They don't have to buy a $700k house just cause the banks offer it. I also wonder how many ppl who used their first home grant for deposit are in trouble now. People have to do the maths. It could also be better to rent than subsist for 1/3 of their life paying a mortgage. It's nice to have your own house....but geeze. My daughter & husband were offered $900k when they applied for a loan. It gave them a warm fuzzy feeling of importance & success, but at the end of the day they bought a house down the sth. coast for $485k (which was still prob overvalued). It never ceases to amaze me why ppl take out massive mortgages & struggle for 25 yrs to live in the most expensive city in Aus. when they can live in a regional town. There's plenty out there, just pick one & get a life.
