The issue is that the patient is unable to eat the food, (eg. needs someone to show it to them ...some are blind and or deaf) and cannot perform the task of eating themselves.
They're slowly starving to death.
As for saving money, the meals themselves are below basic standards of nutrition.
Here's where the money is being saved:
ONE on no staff to assist patients to eat (and perform essential functions) due to high ratios of residents to carers
TWO substandard cheap food (which doesn't meet essential standards of nutritional intake.)
