people may want houses but the thing is can they afford to buy them?

probably not

a house should be 3 times income. it is now 8
the return from rent should be about 5%. it is 3.5%

something has to give

wages won't go up.

Interest rates are up. businesses are laying off workers

unemployment is up

there is absolutely nothing supporting prices at the moment

except the odd migrant

but hey, the only reason they come here in the first place is because they are broke

So I doubt very much if they'll be buying in houses fast.
