Brazil's Zenvia has agreed to sell its carrier billing unit to US-based Syntonic for $ 5 million. The buyer will pay US $ 700,000 in cash and pay the balance over three and a half years, according to the performance of the transaction.
Zenvia's carrier billing allows content providers to sell value-added services by charging directly to the telephone bill or discounted prepaid credit. Its carrier billing platform reaches virtually the entire Brazilian base of mobile lines in service. Last year, this unit recorded revenues of R $ 36.1 million. The Zenvia carrier billing unit has 10 dedicated people who will be transferred to Syntonic.
The sale is part of Zenvia's strategy to focus its attention now on the chatbots market. "We want to align the entire company for our purpose of simplifying the world through smart conversations, so we decided to leave the carrier billing business and focus our investments on the messaging and chatbots business, where we are leaders in Brazil," says CEO of Zenvia, Cassio Bobsin, in an interview for Mobile Time.
The money obtained from the transaction will be destined to the company's performance in the segment of conversation robots. "We will follow our investment plan on Zenvia's Chatbots Platform to enable anyone to create intelligent chatbots that work on any channel and generate business results for companies of all sizes and sectors," he said.
Syntonic was founded in Seattle, USA in 2013. The company offers two platforms in the market: Freeway, which allows the offer of paid mobile content or sponsor; and DataFlex, which allows you to separate the personal and professional data consumption on smartphones from employees of a company. Syntonic is listed on the Sydney Stock Exchange in Australia under the symbol SYT.
