Good to see you here (on this site), I look forward to many of your mirthful wanderings as have recently been witnessed elsewhere.

On a slightly more serious note though, I think you're making some assumptions about the 'long term holders' that might not be appropriate. For many of these, "the 40s" is nowhere near where they would need to get to just to "get their money back". Some have been in it for a very long time, and you don't have to go too far back to be talking $1, and for many it's more like $2 / $3 or even worse. Hopefully most if not all will have been averaging down over time, but when you start from there the average still stays up quite a bit!

Personally, whilst I have paid as much as $2 for PLT shares in the past, my average is now down to 16.8c (or 15.1c if you take convertible notes options into account), but I'm still not planning on much cashing in until the $1 to $1.50 mark, and will still hold most after that. The only selling I'll do is with recent small 11.5c & 15.5c purchases I've made, just to get some money back (with profit) to put elsewhere. Otherwise, I'm in it for the big one, and I suspect many "long term holders" would feel similar. There might be some cashing in along the way (e.g. for free carry or to invest elsewhere), but a lot of people including myself probably look to this share as early-retirement material!
