    Hi Folks

Sorry to come into the thread so late I've been enjoying the sun and waves at Noosa having a bit of baby free time Ahhhh so good.

Any way a query occurs to me.
Why will HPV testing replace Pap (or Truscreen for that matter) as they test for different things. True HPV testing will diminish the need for Pap/Truscreen in that a Pap will not be necessary until a positive HPV result is recorded. When a positive HPV test is recorded the need is then for regular Pap or Truscreen tests to determine if any abnormal cells are forming to indicate cancer. As I understand it some in the profession have doubts as to the benefit of HPV testing at all as women with one of the many HPV virus far out number those who will ever develop cancer (I know,, blasphemous talk for a shareholder). Any way to get to my point as I see it knowing one is HPV positive will surely lead to more regular Pap/Truescreen testing. The real death knell to Pap will be when universal vaccination occurs.

An aside to all this is I remember some talk of releasing Cerviscreen in the US using a third party test. The thinking was it may be expedient to get the self sampler into the market quickly and not to have to wait for the FDA process involving the PLT test. The logic was that the sampler was the critical point of difference and therefor should be released. I have no idea if this idea was pursued or not and I dear-say wont know until we finally get some word from the Co.

As I am in no way a medical person I may be way of the mark and am happy to stand corrected.

Thanks to all for the great posts.

    Cheers
