I WANT TO MAKE THIS HUMOUROUS AND WANT TO POINT OUT FROM HERE THAT I AM GENERALIZING:
Lets face it - men don't like strong women because they are seen too much like their own gender. Men a delicate, egotistical creatures but want to believe they are still real men in this day and age.
Who do successful businessmen marry: models who marry the men for their brains (past thread). Flight attendants, their own personal assistants, nurses. Men like to have a woman by his side at his call and one who will boast his ego (generalising okay).
There are courses for women on how to 'get your millionaire'.
You were referring to our parents generation and the past. Whole new playing field now.
Men can't change light bulbs these days but they can cook. Women can change light bulbs but can't cook. Men's hands are soft and delicate looking these days; if they ever did a real mans job for a day, their hands would get blisters. Business women have cleaners instead of doing the housework themselves.
There are no set rules these days. Does a man pay for dinner or do the couple go Dutch? When to have sex, when not?
