Thanks GSE.
I don't use CMC but others post on here using CMC data. My question relates to the relationship of CMC to the data I do have - being SPI200 and XJO.
I gather then that CMC is loosely based upon SPI200 but with CMC initiated fiddling, undisclosed adjustments, dividend payments and the occaisional stop-running foray: much like the CMC setup in London that traders there so hate!
If the above is true, then any CMC charting is not based on trader initiated activity alone - nor even on price alone, given that dividend payments (and presumably dividend charges for those who are short) are not transparently reflected in the price. CMC's data manipulation is a factor and therefore invalidates, or at least contaminates, any analysis based on CMC data.
Presumably the same applies to IG Markets data?
