From what I've seen ig do the same thing as cmc as there aussie 200 trades tick for tick with spi during the day and night but they use a different formula to determine how far or how close to the normal spi price it will operate at .
The negatives with cmc and ig are they provide no volume so I keep my normal fut's platform open as well to guage intraday . CMC also uses a stupid daily/weekly and even intraday time frame which u can't change . Why would anyones week stop on a Wednesday or Thursday ? got me beat and most futures platforms allow u to adjust the time zone yet I don't think I can do this on cmc .
The good thing with cmc and IG are they guarantee a 2 point spread during the day when with normal spi it can be above 3 points at times .
Plus they both require less margin than normal spi and allow folk with less cash to trade smaller posi's as well .
CMC does have some great tools as Volt has alluded to as well but then are slack in other areas .
Big prob i find with cmc is the amount of outages in the last month and really not acceptable in anyones language .
Then again it is usefull having both as u can actually hedge your spi posi's and I note several traders on hc do this .
ie; If u are short spi at the top of a range like at present and we see today already breaking above yest's high on spi u could retain spi contract shorts and trade long cmc/ig effectively covering any loss of profit on spi shorts .
Or do like me and have all your posi's in the wrong direction .lol
