Xerxes, you wrote "Both claim to have God on their side .... so .... stalemate ???"

Not quite so cut and dried as both Israel and the US have vowed not to let Iran "go nuclear".

Napoleon's well known remark that God was on the side of the big battalions has now been rendered obsolete.

Were he alive today he would no doubt have remarked that God is on the side of the those with missiles and the will to use them.

Such bluster from Iran, made from a clear position of military inferiority, instead of guaranteeing its safety, is moving it further into dangerous waters outside of international sympathy.

Iran's position as a major oil exporter at a time of global pent-up demand is certainly the only thing keeping it from a sharp smack in the kisser.

However as the US economy moves into recession deflating economies worldwide (and therefore the demand for oil) the risk of them being hit by Israel gets that much higher.

Personally, I'm afraid I have little patience with bullies.
