I seem to recall that the deposits were considered to be 'nuggety' at some stage ... perhaps that's the basis of the estimate.
In any case, throw bodies, equipment and resources at it and production will be effected exponentially ... there is no reason why they couldn't produce 1m oz pa if all of this was in place ... and gold at $5000 an ounce may even make it economocal to do so.
Clearly silly to put a finite figure on capacity as there are so many ingredients that could effect the mix.
