History re-writes, that has been a problem in the past, obviously will continue. Was Koestler an under-clost member of the "Crack Suicide Squad"? LSD, amphetamines, opiates, THC weed, even alcohol, terrible destructive forces on the inner man and the outer general society. Lots of mental illness out there associated. Obviously, many in Oz are steeped in the Judaic-Christian tradition. Fortunate for Oz, I think, that we seem to be fair, except for the treatment of the Aborigines and.... mostly, we seem to be reasonable.... and yet, something I read years ago in a sociology book from a perspective at the time that was not based on humanism (basis for a lot of educational policy at that time and continues today). "Tolerance is not always a virtue in a society that has been indoctrinated in the cult of open-mindedness." I believe humanism is flawed in saying that "people are born pure, it is the environment that corrupts". That does not cater for the fact that man seems inherently good at stuffing up his environment. I certainly have beliefs, probably very narrow, consider that you can accept all people, warts and all,need to concentrate on our own stuff, don't have to join yourself to anyone, sometimes you can't. Believe there is a way defined by a point in history BC/AD, believe that we all have to be honest with ourselves, first. It is not about race. The Samaritans were despised in history by people around them, but the good Samaritan did the good deed. Good Sammy's use to be called The Good Samaritans, where second-hand clothes are sold at wonderul prices. I value the contribution made by Good Sammy's and The Salvo's, but they probably won't feature highly in historical documents. Heard that, in the last few years, some priceless historical documents got blown to Smitherians(?) by a party that was led by a guy who looks like he watched too many cowboy westerns in his youth. Could be hearsay, hey, but it's history now. Wonder who is going to write the story? Of course the movie will be 'based' on the book, obviously a condensed version with a somewhat biased view. Well, a biased view would be better than a delusional (LSD type) view.
