I disagree... I only see 2 results from this Royal Commission (RC) that will cause the SP to crash further:
    • Shocking service quality of their centres (which seems very unlikely given theyve had issues recently that were resolved quickly, with many internal quality checks and teams)
    • Reduced funding from both govt and private entities (which will only further reduce the quality of services provided to residents).

In fact, I reckon this RC will be amazing for the prepared, high-quality service providers as the govt does a complete transformation of the currently severely capped system. Seems like most of the issues and complaints stem from the underfunded, poorly managed aged care facilities. Given this industry is highly fragmented, its only a matter of time before those poor facilities are weeded out and replaced by high-quality providers...

From what I can see, more funding and greater quality are on the way for the aged care industry. Yes, better quality = higher costs, but that should be offset by the increase in funding. Checkout the COTA paper (link) to see what is currently needed in industry.

I would love to be proved wrong!!
