No disputing we have followed the US in the past in most areas finance related

    interest rates

    share market booms and busts

property market booms and busts, though I suppose that is one time you would say we will not follow the US

the is 2 possible outcomes going forward

We will become less coupled to the US and more to the Asian economies, which will happen if they remain strong. A result will be interest rates will not be going anywhere any time soon and if it is it will be up not down

Second out come is the Asian economies do slow as a flow on from the slowing US economy, there by being coupled to them will not save us from a downturn

so yes interest rates will then fall and so will company profits and unemployment will rise. A typical economic down turn

neither outcome is positive for any real gains in property in the near term and more likely to see falls rather than gains
