GHT ... I can empathise with your frustration. LGL has been the bane of many an investor. You are prob. on the right track when you surmise that it may be the plaything of those "wascally" hedge funds - it would not surprise me in the least but such concerns can only be speculation as such activity (if, indeed it does occur) is very clandestine and is beyond public scrutiny.
From a fundamentalist point of view, you are correct - LGL should have enjoyed a s/p rise comparable (in % terms) to other key gold stocks.
And ... 'yes' it would be a horrible irony to have held for a long while only to sell just before "lift off".
I guess I will just continue to observe this one from the sidelines for the time being.
I wish you well with it and hope, for the sake of holders, that it eventually comes good.
It's a funny old market at the moment - that's for sure.
