Where did I say that America protects you or me? I as your fellow countryman and the society we are both part of protect you- from the ‘evil’ person like me who votes against letting in people who would harm you to the ‘evil’ Westerner working as a policeman to the ‘evil’ Westerners working as doctors and nurses that helped deliver your ungrateful self in to this world.
Three decades in to Japan & the people so sorry to say but it wasn’t the oil embargo etc that set them off. It was the idea that they should rule Asia, but we foreigners & is exemplified by the idea of hachioji or Hachio or whatever it was- the world under the 8 sides of the pavilion.
The carving up of Asia by our nations is what woke them up & it was our own military advice that armed them. We English, the French and Germans all took turns teaching them something as we each, in turn, appeared to be superior in a given field such as soldiering or naval endeavours.
I guess you know far better though- I mean I’ve only been involved with families from the consular level here in Oz down to living with mango farmers in Okinawa since 1991.

Enjoy life on your fence- I hope you don’t get too many splinters but know that those splinters are far better than the taxation/forced conversion/enslavement or beheading you’d receive from the side you wish us to see as innocents in this game we’re all involved in.

We aren’t perfect but it’s just sad to see such a lack of gratitude and understanding that we can’t be on two teams at once, even if we wish to for the sake of appearing ‘conpassionate’ or whatever malarkey it is that the ‘it’s all our fault’ crowd push with the middle eastern etc refugees.
