1. The Jews hadn't lived in what is now Israel for at least 1000 years, more likely 2000 - just check what happened in Australia to the original inhabitants who had lived here for over 30 000 years?

The Israelis are a clever and hardworking people, but they had and still have a lot of financial help from the West (including Germany - still!) to 'make the desert bloom' while the rest of the world bombs and plunders Arab lands. The history of the expulsion of the then 1000-year settlers of Palestine, the homeland for the Palestinians, does not make pretty reading either. But that's the way of the world - rose-tinted glasses help no-one.

Just tell me, why then, did the U.S.A. get themselves involved in the Middle East? They were friendly with the Bin Laden family via the oil interests - Osama was simply the outcast of that family and saw himself as an almost religious 'saviour' for the Arab people - it was him they hunted or used as a pretext to get involved this unholy mess, but they kept friendly with the Saudis - another guess, why? - Trump's participation in a sword dance with the mob (and sale of multi-million dollars worth of weapons) hasn't convinced me either, that the U.S.A. is giving up on that friendship any time soon.

Bunny - I was born in Austria (when there saw myself as an Austrian, got educated in that culture), but 300 years ago most of my ancestors came from Slavic lands to the North-east of Austria, some from Finland, even the Caucasus, some were remnants of the local 'original' inhabitants of central Europe, they were what we now term 'Celts' - I now live in Australia, my children are Australian, one is English - I cannot see any of them (including the one who married an Englishman) ever seeing themselves as anything else but Australian. I am sure this 'fate' applies to a lot of migrating humanity.

The story of the Jewish people is a complex one, a sad one of constant migration, of settling in a country, becoming part of it and of having to move on by persecution. But this is not the place to discuss this, as it is too large a subject. The biblical references are what they are and have formed the basis for many other religions' 'claim' to right in law, belief, reaison d-etre for the existence of their faith, but fact is that for the last 2000 years many Jews left their homeland, some stayed, even becoming Muslim and it would be interesting to know how many practicing Jews were in Israel when the thought of a Jewish homeland germinated in the mind of a handsome Viennese Jew of Hungarian birth, Theodor Herzl, at the turn of the 19th century (1896 he wrote his book on a 'Jewish State'). He died young and didn't live to see the creation of the State of Israel.

Now for Hakim el Karoui:

The man who started this thread hasn't done his homework on Hakim el Karoui, who is a prolific writer, initially an investment banker for the Rothschild bank, where he met Macron and they became friends, but he is principally a writer and a person who tries to find solutions to a big problem, namely extremist muslims.
