Thanks Geo/Neil, I didn't realise it was a closed loop. My bad.
I recall a part of the tv report saying that a similar well in the US used ground water, as does Iceland, that ultimately ran dry over a period of years. It closed down, was then reopened years later when they piped reclaimed water 100kms in and reinjected the water. If I remember correctly they needed to make 17Mw to feed back into the grid to make it feasible.
