of coursse not - its also not a new excuse thown up by executives in commission hearings.

my point really is that there is always cycles and one just needs to manage money and not be complacent and dont hand over your most important resource ie money to anyone w/out a real hard analysis of them.

Thats the issue in Australia and its just moments like this which remind people that Greed is never lurking far behind.

I am a very big advocate for financial freedom but taking personal responsibility for your investments. And even if you hand over your money to someone else you still need to be active in managing them because they never going to do the right thing for you. Fiduciary repsosibility in Australia is basicallygive me your money i will stick it in a passive fund (still charge as if actively managing but wont tell you that) and when it all goes bad due to the cycle will just say not my fault you did ok and got a mrkt rtn. Now we all know about French and Famer but ask yourself this does Warren Buffet put all his money in passive funds or does he actively manage it?
