China has pathetic iron ore reserves but they have 33 brine lakes in and adjacent to Tibet (intersting eh!)that although low in Lithium/Potash concentrations, with new technology and cheap labor can supply all their internal needs.
Current demand may be strong but long term outlook suggests that securing external resources would be unnecessary.
