BH i agree with your comments. If you do a little bit of research one can find evidence of shortages of basic foodstuffs in places you wouldn't expect. As American farmers switch from cotton to planting corn , chasing the ethanol dollars, cottonseed oil is in short supply. Cottonseed oil is a key ingredient in the production of kosher stick margarine that the jewish community use during the passover. Unable to eat leavened bread products during this 8 day period,the margarine is used to bake items that can be eaten during passover. Apparently you cant get the margarine for love or money , and some rabbi's are calling it, 'margarine gate'. I wonder what some Australians would think if they went to the local supermarket and found items they were used to buying no longer available when they wanted it.
