Not quite, the so-called "Arabic" numerals are really Hindu in origin. A chappie named Aryabhatta apparently invented the 9 numerals with the zero as a placekeeper.
And that was transmitted to the West by the Arabs, hence "Arabic" numerals.
Without which the invention of calculus (Newton/Liebniz)would have been impossible and that set the scene for subsequent scientific and mathematical breakthroughs.
