    Yet Sharma garnered something like 43% of the primary vote and Phelps around 29%...doesn't that tell you something? Phelps is far less popular than Sharma, yet the larger part of the electorate now has to put up with an MP that they did not vote for.

    The LNP did not lose the election, their Candidate won in fact...

    Adding the 11.5% who voted Labor and the 8.6% who voted Green to Phelp's 29% is why she won the seat and Sharma lost.

    Labor had planned to support Phelp's, her campaign managed by Darrin Barnett, a paid up trade union member who managed recent campaigns for the ALP.

    Of course the far left Greens would never give their preferences to anybody but the ALP so the LNP was always going to be pushing the proverbial uphill.
