I've asked my broker about the loyalty options, ie whether you need to hold the shares from IPO to entitlement date, or whether you can actually buy the shares at any time as long as you hold them at the entitlement date.
He thinks its the latter, but agrees the recent communication is ambiguous and is going to follow up with the company to confirm.
