There was plenty of research 5 years ago suggesting a lot of resource companies were overly geared and likely to struggle when prices fell. They were cyclical companies not necessarily growth companies. This would have been considered downramping by some, risk assessment by others.

Personally I believe if someone invests based upon a mission statement and and MD speech and doesn't consider the risks first then they should only be angry with one person if the strategy fails.

Do your own research, ie look at the facts and potential outcomes not just those that suit you.
