re: will surprise the market ... arthur Hi Arthur ... yes indeed ... as late as Oct03 AMP was saying no more write-downs/placements etc ... that the demerger was on track and no more surprises.
Analysts angrily new different and that HHG was loaded to it's eyeballs with debt ... it was worthless.
Hidden deep in the demerger pro-forma statements was the admission that AMP had absorbed and thereby extinguished £2billion($4.8billion) of HHG debt.
This silent recap of HHG had to show somewhere and Merrill Lynch has quickly taken up the chase with it's forecast of $5.8billion FY03 loss and valuation of $4.00.
Sooo ... on paper HHG looks healthy but AMP back in the doo-dah once again ... or more correctly, the long suffering shareholders are ...
