The US Empire is a very big ship: far bigger than the Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman, the English, the Russian. It moves very slowly and, no matter who its captain, it will be too hard to manoeuvre away from the iceberg that sunk the RMS Titanic and all the other Empires.
We might see a few less innocent go down if one of the candidates or other takes the helm but the killing and the suffering will go on, right up until the ship sinks and its after-tidals collapse.
I find it impossible to believe in Clinton but I also believe McCain is an even worse warmonger than Bush and his neo-cons. I don't know what will be in the power of Obama to change, even though "change we can believe in" is his slogan.
We've let the monster grow too much: fed it too long, sucked up to it too much.
