perhaps religion is not the problem, but rather how religion is used by corrupt powers to justify actions that are actually based on power and greed. Thats why I like secular forms of government, where religion is seperate to government. Whenever Governments turn to religion to justify their policies and actions we need to be both cynical and sceptical. In Western countries they only do it if they think there may be a vote or two in it.
