I am a long-term ECT shareholder (decade+) and have regularly kept up to date on announcements, ESI (now ECT) news and even monitored the hot copper threads over the many years.  I am happy to make my first post ever on HotCopper around a time I believe is one of the most significant in the company’s history:

· ECT is on the cusp of signing off on its single largest bodies of work to date that has been years in the making

· ECT has evolved over the years, and learned from their experiences along the way, adjusting their communication style, content and substance, as well as how they manage their relationships with their shareholders, future partners and other stakeholders.  By no means have do they always get it right, but they are clearly demonstrating efforts at major improvements

· ECT has engaged with two companies in a country with a completely different culture, embraced it, nurtured it, and navigated through a cultural contrast that would be challenging for any company, and come out being respected for it

In spite of the recognition of the above, there is nothing that is in the entire control of one group or entity, but ECT is certainly becoming better at recognizing what is in their control, what isn’t, and improving on communicating the changes relating to each regardless. 

I have long held a view that it is not necessarily the actions of a person that determines their character, but sometimes how they recover from their reactions that determines it.  As a company, ECT has had to act and react so many times over the years, but have shown efforts to learn out of it and do better next time.  

While some of us may be under the illusion that we should be in a confrontational setting, or that one group or set of people is able to control the entire outcome of this company’s technology, the reality is much more complex.  Constructive behaviour styles drive the best outcomes in all types of business, and many ECT members have employed these greatly over the last few months, on the backdrop of greater and greater company communication and engagement with its shareholders.  I believe now is a better time than any for all stakeholders to follow this constructive lead so we can move into this next chapter of ECTs life with a positive environment and work efficiently and effectively on the next body of work aimed at bringing our technology to market.
