What I want to say is that if there are other holders out there like me - be strong. I have an 18 month year old daughter and my partner has a 5 year old daughter and we live in a very small 2 bedroom rented unit. This was going to be our big break. Not that I told my partner about it. Don't think I will.
I am not a religious person, but after the trading halt yesterday, I felt compelled to visit church to pray for a good result. Co-incidentally, a priest was delivering a sermon, saying that you should never ask for gifts for leading a good life, as living a good life is reward enough. I perhaps then had an inkling of what was in store. It is true though - I have a beautiful 18 month year old daughter who I love very much, a good partner who I love also and who supports me. There is a beautiful park down the road where I can take my daughter to play and it costs nothing. I have a good business and a job. I was certainly not expecting what happened, but it is only money and I am strong. To everyone out there who lost big, please don't give up hope. Life is its own reward. Do not rest in peace - rise up again and fight another day.
Great post and agree with everything you say. There is so much more to life than money.
I too found myself in a similar position during the GFC. Lost a fortune when Opes Prime went under. All my stocks were sold out from under me.
Fast forward 10 years and I have 4 kids and slowly clawed back a good portfolio of various stocks. I did have time on my side so I was fortunate from that perspective... Money means so much less to me these days. I was disappointed when I first read the announcement this morning but soon forgot about it. In fact I actually had a giggle because it was the second stock this week that I own that had lost more than 90% in a day.....
How often does that happen?
