The most interesting thing is that POSCO plan to produce lithium phosphate, and then turn that into lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide.
The PosLX process is said to be quite energy intensive, however there is another process that can produce lithium carbonate or hydroxide from phosphate materials using very little if any energy whatsoever.
I wonder how that process would go without needing to extract in the beginning and just having lithium phosphate from the beginning. It would certainly remove energy costs from the equation and potentially speed the process up even further. I'd be interested to see what someone like @Sharpey can make of it if @maxi1981 doesn't spot it.
