Hmmmm yes ones Grand dad was a proper Cobbler, right down to making his own woode (taks/nails) or whatever was once used,

and had a room full of 'wooden" [ foot shaped moulds ] for the "regulars,,,( and doing all the tanning too )

He told of the times when he had to go epic journeys of over 20km on a pushy with one gear..

And then it was sometimes a nigh stay over,,,,

Anyway during the WWII he was put in "work"a camp,,and bla bla bla,,they tossed him out into a ditch,,,

Well grandma was told of this and took him back home in a wheel barrow,,

    ,

Seems he had some sort of kidney failure and bloated up like a yellow ballon,

and it was the middle of harsh winter,,,

    ...

Well the only food people had was "frozen" spuds that the army did dump in the village square, and they suplimented

with acorns and the such that they had saved...

    .

Well grand dad was on his last,,and being of the " natural knowledge generation" grand ma,,,went trundeling off

into a blizzardy night with the wheel barrow, and as many milk containers as she could load,

and went from village to village, begging for milk, fresh or soured,,and prommised free next sets of shoes,,,.

    ,

She told of then putting granddad into a bath and getting him to soak for ages in whatever milk she had

dragged back to the house,,and after some hours of soaking,, grandad revived, but she said the milk smelled

    worse than a pig sty,,,,

    ,

Seems the body was able to get rid of the toxins via osmosis, and that was enough to give the immune system

etc ,just that need leg up....,

    ,,,

Now grandma never told a fib in her life,,so thus truth is stranger that fiction.
