    Hi Dub and all,

I did once hold a large amount of Silver in 15 Kg and 30 Kg bars; however, I sold this way back at a decent price as I happened to need the funds for something else. I do own several one-ounce Silver coins in Brisbane I have held these for years.

I have dual citizenship Australian and UK I don’t own any Silver in the UK as I understand it carries VAT (GST) on it here. I do hold Gold Britannia coins in the UK no VAT and no CGT. The wealthy POMS always leave themselves a loop-hole!

If I’m nifty enough I may sell some Gold stocks and repurchase Silver as I do like the metal even though it’s been very disappointing over recent years. Physical Gold is something I decided to hold onto since around 2002. I also happen to think one should hold some physical Gold before holding any Gold exploration or producing stocks. I really do see it as an insurance policy if the brown stuff seriously hits the fan.

When Gordon Brown required funds between 1999 and 2002, he sold some 395 Tonnes of Gold in an auction method that ensured he got the lowest price possible. Later in 2008-09 when the UK once again needed emergency funds the BOE just printed up the pound notes out of fresh air. A question I can never get answered is why did Gordon not keep the Gold back then and print up the required pound notes! The printing presses may have improved over the years; however, I’m sure they would have worked all right between 1999 and 2002. When any of the naysayers around here can give me an answer to this question, I might listen to them.

These outrageous debts around the World will mean something one day I’m sure, governments borrowing without thinking about how and by whom it will be repaid is not only wrong in my view it is also immoral.

For the moment it all appears to be going along fine as was the Titanic until in turn each of her sealed compartments filled with water. Metaphorically the captain is saying that bump was just us taking on some ice for the bar don’t worry folks nothing to see here!

Cheers and very best regards: Andy
