So BHP have admitted that their Singapore hub was a ploy to reduce their Australian tax bill and now agreed to pay a substantial amount of back taxes which is great but I'm not too pleased that they get to not admit fault, that's part of the problem, as I see it of the modern neo-liberal world of governance and business and yet it seems that both business and government can't see the disconnect here. Sure its great to get them to pay what they tried to avoid but allowing them to say they didn't do anything wrong isn't right. Would you pay 500+million in tax if you hadn't done something wrong?
