    Forged, I am one such poster who holds some penny stocks and I can tell you I have some impressive losses on some of them.
    The fact is they represent a small percentage of my portfolio, as I think you will find is the case with any well-structured portfolio.

    I could also show you stocks where I have lost all of my money.

    However, this is offset by the returns of my winners, for example my second largest holding has returned 1491% in less than 10 years that I have held it. This return has been achieved by growth, dividends and trading a portion of my holding.
    I don't think you will find many properties that have this investment performance.
    I can also quote plenty of other stocks which sadly I don't own which have similar performance.

    Sure the stock market is volatile, look at it, down today.
    I can understand why people choose property as an investment to avoid this volatility however, property has its cycles and can be equally brutal, downturns are not as frequent but last longer.
    Generally, there is more leverage in property which magnifies the losses.
