I should add Access to incentives (ie if the advisers are only able to use in house products then the incentives don’t actually matter).
My point was that in the service industry in Australia there are innumerable examples of efficiency being created due to in house integration. If you make everything independent then you will lose efficiency. Vertical integration exists all over our society and it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Again with regards to the primary gp, I’m sure they aren’t getting a kick back or a perverse incentive for using an in house provider, they just choose to use it if it’s in their patients best interests, and I don’t see why financial advice can’t be any different.
