Hang in there Bazza. Wait and see what happens next, and please keep us posted.

You raised some excellent questions with regard to corporate governance and human resources.

Weren't we supposed to have a corporate governance expert on the board to ensure equanimity and fairness?

hhhhmmm.... so how did that work out for all of us eh?

It's beginning to look like we may have been duped by a few very clever grifters (now flying first class).

Those Arnotts biscuits were great mate, and still are some of my favourites, especially the lemon creams.

This whole episode reminds me of Gordon Gecko and that movie. The father (Martin Sheen) of the young stockbroker says to his son that he should be proud of people who make something good with their hands for others and society, like factory workers who make tools (or biscuits), rather than support and admire swindlers like Gordon Gecko and his corporate stock market theft of innocent people's hard earned money.

Be proud of what you have done Bazza. I am also 62 years of age, and have been seriously unwell for some years, unable to work now, but spent most of my time teaching programming and working in computing for various companies and government. I've come across some Gordon Gecko's in my time, most of them in mining companies down on the terrace in Perth (and in West Perth and Subiaco). I resigned from those jobs, rather be associated with them. Horrible individuals they are, exploiting a system that allows them to legally take the savings of good honest people, via dubious means. It makes me angry.

As for the girlfriend, ironically I'm in a very similar place. My girlfriend left (because apparently I wasn't paying for enough of her expenses, and paying off her mortgage, and taking her on holidays, and I refused to buy her a new car, and wouldn't pay for a gardener or house cleaner, and didn't pay enough attention to her or touch her affectionately while in public for everyone to see - at least, that's what the letter said (amongst many other things, most of them not very complimentary). It's been nice and quiet at my place recently.

Then I met a kind, gentle, quirky lady, who I've really come to like. Now the girlfriend wants back in, and all of my faults have been forgiven, apparently it's not so rosy on the outside for a 60 year old woman paying for everything by herself. These issues and emotions have consumed me over the last week or so, because I need to make a decision.

Anyway, as of today I'm happier and more content, because I've now decided what to do.

    Gw
