- The gold price goes up and down affecting viability;
- Some miners will only have a short term view, or go for the low hanging fruit;
- Exploration becomes more and more accurate (and sometimes cheaper) over time; and
- Mining and extraction costs can go down overtime (and effectiveness increase), affecting viability.
If the company's still alive, there's always hope.
