Yes the trial is double blinded.But I think it is possible for the results of a double blinded trial to leak out.
e.g. if half the patients show a large improvement and half show zero or small improvement, the staff might guess that the ones with the large improvement are taking the treatment and the ones with the zero or small improvement are taking the placebo, so the treatment can be guessed to be effective even before the unblinded results are announced.
