First off, let me say that coal is the glory of the modern world.

But due to a plethora of grant seeking scientists and tax hungry politicians, it is currently not cool to invest in the hot coal sector.

Most of us ignore these selfish individuals.

But if they are making you feel guilty, what do you do to ease your conscience?

    Choices are:
    1. Nuclear fission - (people afraid of giant lizards are against more of these)
    2. Nuclear Fusion - (currently a 6 billion dollar pipe dream)
    3. Solar Power - Works when you don't need it.
    4. Zero point energy - Leave a number and the people in the white van will come and take you away.
    4. Wind power - A little variable.
    5. Hydroelectric - Not too many virgin gorges left.
    6. Wave power - Corrosive environment, but it might work.

And then of course we have the poster child of the new-age : geothermal.

Now I know diddly about geothermal, and have scant trust for any company run by people with lots of letters after their names, but out of the geothermal companies I looked at, Panax stood out due to geothermal gradient.

There is a risk that all these pie-in-the-sky green energy plays will achieve is massive cash burn, and I already have my eye on a very high profile play that I think is going to deliver spectacularly poor returns to investors.

It may be that these companies will only survive through government grants and levies on cheap energy sources to make them appear economically attractive.

    Anyhoo - on to Panax...
My research on this is a few months old so DYOR!

Limestone coast: geothermal exploration, to drill to 3.5km looking for 180-200 degrees for 50-200MWe power plant.

The project that got my interest though were the rights in India due to load shedding, nearby markets and apparently good temperature gradients and possible tariffs of US100/MWh + carbon credits?.

Acquisition of geothermal rights in India and Kyrgyz for 12m shares, 6m opts:-

Earn 45% Maharashtra state: Indian west coast near Mumbai, hot springs in area, possible temperatures of 180-200 at less that 2200m - anecdotal from nearby gas wells.

Earn 32% Krishna-godavari Andra-Pradesh India: geothermal exploration, hot springs in area.

Earn 45% Himalayan:- Puga: probable 250 degrees at 1200m.

Earn 61% Kyrgyz (from KGL):- South Issykkul - I believe an old mine adit through hot (radioactive) granite that exhibits a promising temperature. Inylchek. Aksai. Kyzyompul.
Energy from Kyrgyz might be exported to China if it gets that far, I am not sure it can travel the distance efficiently?

There are also some older U projects, and I am not sure what the status of these are. From old notes:
Earn 80% Coulta SA: paleo U expl.
    Yilgarn WA:-
Goongarrie: U expl, prior samples to 5430ppm U.
Nangcarrow: U expl, prior sample to 1200ppm U.

Anyone more knowledgeable and up to date, please correct where necessary.

I have a very small position in this - just for green credentials.
