Thanks for your considered perspective.
There is a lot of misinformation and political gaming going on surrounding these matters, its hard to cut through the bull because there is so much of it.
If green solutions really are cheaper, volunteer to disband all green power subsidy and let the market decide. Unfortunately this will never happen, there is too much money and political ground at stake.

AGL went green because it paid them commercially to do so under a government supported and mandated subsidy. They are simply following the easy money, its a corporate responsibility and when you can gain political points by selling your virtue it makes sense. We here understand that.

I am not a climate change skeptic, I am however a realist watching on.
The issue with the Paris Agreement is that it is currently portrayed simplistically. People are unaware of its implications.
Stage 1 is the implementation of punitive climate measures related to electricity on the prosperous west to redistribute those funds to the undeveloped.
Further down the line are punitive measures to tax vehicles that do not comply with certain set standards.
Following this are punitive measures to restrict farm emissions, (Please don't laugh, its true) Cows and large herd farm animals are emitters, and are next. Restrictive quotas are to be implemented to save the climate.
The problem is that we have increasing populations, I question where will the food come from. Perhaps we are to eat greens.

America has pulled out of Paris, China is declared developing, India is developing Africa is developing.
Above is the largest emitters with a free ride. China, India, Africa are permitted to increase emissions substantially while other countries are being committed to restrictive measures of increasing magnitude.
Those measures by the way are designed to make the west relinquish its prosperous business activity to the developing. Its happening in front of your nose. Redistribution, not growth.

Developing countries learn fast, there are endless bucket loads of money in climate change, you just have to be declared developing. Bonus if you are a small island nation. The rest pay.

That's where the rubber hits the road.
We have France going ballistic, unwilling to pay the price for redistribution of their wealth on one hand.
Macron with his fuel tax increase, that is climate change related taxation. Another revolution in the making over there.
On the other hand we have Turkey reversing backwards seeing opportunity in the climate fund, FREE money if they get classified as developing, after recently having been classified developed. Follow the money. They learn quickly.

I learned that in business you have to be nimble, I also learned that you cannot blindly trust government and banks. Hence my suspicious nature.

Now coming back to China, They are a dictatorship, they do not have much oil.
They are commercially strategic, hyper aggressive, are hellbent intent on very substantial control in new industries, with a national imperative to succeed.
They are trying to very successfully I might add be in the best place with new energy manufacturing, they see this as an opportunity to gain ground that previously was impossible. It all relates to solar, wind and EV. They do not respect intellectual property and do whatever it takes to succeed.
Belt and road, influence, for whos primary benefit.
I know, I have been on the receiving end. Left with no alternative but to sell my company early.
Yes they need to clean up their cities air and industry, I support them on this.
Sorry to break the news about China's green virtue. Its primarily commercially driven.
Do I blame China, NO, they have and see opportunity, we are handing it over.

You may think I'm sensitive, I am.
For very good reason, I've been knocked around a little and learn fast.
