Could it be that they finally woke up to realising we don't like them, with the first strike.
I doubt if they care we don't like them. But in the furture they will need us and this is their pathetic attempt at trying to convince us, that they have our best intentions at heart.
The fact it took them this long to wake up shows a definite lack of intelligence and a whole lot of arragence in my opinion.
