"earning respect and trust" - sounds VERY Japanese to me.

Early in my marketing career, I worked for an Advertising Agency that did the advertising for Mitsubishi Australia - they held the account for circa 30 years. Respect and trust is a core element to how Japanese operate in business. 

The agency ran an "open book" accounting system providing Mitsubishi with a detailed monthly report showing every expense, every hour worked on their account disclosing margins. They rarely questioned anything, they just wanted the transparency.

Make no mistake, they weren't a 'push over' when conducting business, but respect and trust was seen as a minimum requirement.

Again, at the risk of sounding like another member of the Jerko fan club, you have to give brownie points for AGY doing the smart thing, and adapting their business methods to ensure building a long term relationship with the potential OT partner.

Having observed how the Account Team worked with Mitsubishi, there are many subtle ways to offend their sensibilities and I perfectly understand why Jerko hasn't leveraged the publicity potential of disclosing who they are in discussions with or disclosed the signing of an MOU (if there is one).

Even though it would have helped the share price considerably.
