I think people get a bit excited when minority groups get a bit of support, they have a knee jerk reaction and assume the majority are copping a hiding. I got my first tattoo when I was 17 and have never missed out on any sort of opportunities because of it. There’s tattoos and there’s tattoos, if someone applied for a job with me and had tattoos up both arms, neck and legs I wouldn’t hire them either as it shows a certain personality which is probably not suitable for certain customer interaction.
