I remember that piece of theatre very well, dust and I thought at the time that this is a little sample, a highly illuminating sample of how the whole party was functioning at the time. Nudging and nodding at each other, with eyes away and nausea in their throats. I don't believe any of them liked anyone else in that sad party. I saw Downer last night and again I thought of that duo between Howard and Costello! What an act!
