Interesting movements on the Register from 2017 to 2018, there seems to a lot of nominee registered holders now, up from approx 29m shares in 2017 to now approx 80 million this year. That's a lot of shares acquired during a year of collapsing share price. A nominee structure offers little transparency as to who is actually on the register. The nominees are spread between HSBC, BNP, JP Morgan, National Nominees, Citi Group.
Could be Institutional Investors and Index Funds but who knows ?
Refer to the annual reports for details, 2017 Top 20 accounted for 148m shares now top 20 account for 180m shares.
